without punk, thrash in general wouldn't be the same. sure there was good metal around when punk was at it's peak, but thrash is a mix of metal and hardcore punk. I hate that song jack black does where he says punk rock tried to destroy the metal...fucking ass hole, punk enhanced metal! look at the style that came from punk and metal together! fuck jack black.
