the standard in Texas is 200 sq ft or smaller no permit. still, you should check with your local governing body
-
good video
-
@MFRoosy16 144 SQ FT you need a permit for any thing larger then that, but you need to check with your own building department. the code changes for different areas.
-
@DoItYourselfBuilder do you know what the size square foot is needed?
-
@MFRoosy16 -Yes you should check with the building department when building anything, in are county you do not need one for this size of shed. Good comment, thanks you.

you forgot one thing to tell your video viewers... always get a building permit...

Worth mentioning, but instead of "using a block" in the joist hangers you really don't need, try using the 1 1/2" mark they put on speedy squares and lay both sides of the joist out. Or use a big square that has a 1 1/2" leg and mark both sides. And why not all 2x6 including rim, and on 2' center? Place two skids on the bottom 1-2' in from the sides and they make span. It's not like you really need to meet residential home requirements with the floor anyway. Its a storage shed inches from ground

@HomeEnergyNow Thanks for the comment, there are many ways to build it, but my intentions are to keep it very simple..... you do make a good point, Thanks you, I agree.

ok...great job, im not carpenter, im a bodyman and painter...im fixing up some things in the garage, i have a small little storage area looks like a small attic in the garage, prior owner of the home just put random pieces of sheets of wood, you think i can get away with 1/2 osb? i do have joists or however you call it but not sure of how far apart they are but they are more then 2 feet, looks like someone added this in the garage.

@jettastreetracer -yes 1/2" OSB will work for 24" on center studs, if your studs are more then 24" use 5/8", but plywood would look better, a little more money.
THANKS FOR THE COMMENT
