The only reason they never try to go back to the moon is because they never been there in the first place,and i cant believe they teach that in school.

I figured it out.. Reason why we havent gone back is because thats as far as a manned ship could practically go.. Only way we could go further is with a leap in technology that would allow light speed travel. In addition the moon and mars lack an atmosphere to protect against space rock debree from hitting anything they put there.. There's no real practical way to head get manned missions out far into space with our current technology.. Were going to nneed a star trek space ship to do so

You know, it's sad to think that the last truly ambitious thing mankind has done happened 40 years ago.
At the time this happened, just think of what people imagined 2009 to be like. The possibilities were endless. We'd probably have colonized the moon, mars if not more by 2009, discovered alien races, have flying cars, floating buildings etc etc etc.
Now think about how we, in 2009, imagine 2049 to be. I don't think a whole lot different than now, honestly. Where has our drive gone? :-(

Yeah, I just read NASA lost the original moon landing tape. Can you imagine how convenient that must be. ( In an embarrassing acknowledgment, the space agency said Thursday that it must have erased the Apollo 11 moon footage years ago so that it could reuse the videotape.)
