  • What a friggin' brilliant track....Lyrically & musically....I remember listenin to Prefab Sprout however I don't remember this track...Love it....It actually has a bit of a Scritti Politti feel !....Paddy was one of the most underrated & brilliant songwriters of this time !

  • @jhetta22 I agree.

  • I just have to listen to this song about once if not more a day !! And outside the genius songwriting, the bassline is just friggin incredible !!! Kudos !!

  • The Sprouts at their fabulous peak here, a really sensuous and ingenious song - although their records after Jordan are too middle-of-the-road for me, they were one of the best things about the 1980s, musically or otherwise.

  • "Aint no purple reign quite like it"

Paddy packs more smarts in single lines than most do in whole records

  • 'Pearly Gates' stops me in my tracks every time. It captures a sense of naked vulnerability in the face of mortality. It's chillingly beautiful. I'd put it in my Top 10 Paddy compositions, alongside Andromeda Heights, Appetite, Bonny, Goodbye Lucille #1, Here On The Eerie, I Trawl The Megahertz, Jesse James Bolero, Jordan: The Comeback and Nightingales. As for 'Enchanted' - fabulous.
