Is it Baby Babble or a Sign of Speech Problems?

Every proud parent hangs on every word their baby says. What if those first few words are hard to come by or understand? It might just be a normal phase, or it could be a sign of a growing problem called childhood apraxia of speech.

Having gone through 9 years of intensive speech therapy for apraxia, it bothers me when people leave the 't' out in 'often'. Like this reporter did at the end of the video. ...Botherrrrrs.... Just saying. :I

Tips to parents of children with speech impediments- be patient with your kid to teach your kid patience when speaking. It's frustrating for you, I know, but it is on them, too! They keep having to repeat themselves. Encourage them to talk all the time, even if you can't understand them.

I see mostly girls on youtube with speech problems. Perhapse this whole thing about boys being affected the most is just a myth!

Sometimes I wonder how to truly detect whether there is a problem or not.My cousin did not speak @all until he was almost 4; he just babbled &the entire family thought it was just cute baby talk. @the time I remembered reading about cases like this in Psych class &wondered if there might be a problem. Then, one day, out of the clear blue sky, he started talking normally around 5. Still, I always feel that getting help early is the best method in case there truly is a problem to detect at all.
