  • funny really how a labour goverment, supposed to be a party of the working class, totally shitcanned rover, but found 50 millon quid to bail out the high street banks that have been ripping us of for years, oh and they have found some money to keep land rover/jaguar, and GM happy?

and then there was that ridiculas hewitt woman that announced MGR was bankrupt publically b4 anyone else knew, and dont get me started on that scouse cnut tony woodley!

  • Just goes to show how selfish most people are. Amazing though how they didnt want to help rover with public money but are prepared to support a government who spend billions on an immoral and illegal war in iraq.

  • all the money wasted bailing out the banks and the goverment didnt lift a finger to help rover..the labour party should be ashamed, and those phionix directors should be locked up...could only happen in brittain.

  • Such a sad story another great British industry gone :( mgr forever! !!!!

  • You cant compare rescuing the banks with bailing out MG Rover. The collapse of MGR may have been extremely unpleasent for workers and the West Midlands, but it had little effect on the overall economy of the UK. If the banks had failed in 2008 we would still be living in tents and qeueing at the soup kitchens. It would have been devestating. Also rememeber the Government didnt just give banks the money, they took a stake in the businesses that will eventually be sold on recouping the money.

  • @mahathir75 Which one?

  • @TheLongfords Yes, they are the party of lazy complacent scum, not one of them actually have a cllue about running a country. They are all in politics for the money and power they get out of it, and they are all uneducated thickos aswell, which means that even if they were committed to making the UK better, they couldn't do it anyway!!

  • One of the saddest pieces of news that still effects.I find it odd he reporter said the 75 failed to capture imagination yet the SV/SVR did. Surely the 75 was by far more profitable? I dont think that is the case anyway,I think part of it is the public at large will only buy what looks like the same car for a limited time.I think after the BMW pullout, combined with what comes across to me as a laid back `folly` for the Phoenix 4 and the Labour Govt. lead to this in the immediate later period.

  • The most anoying thing I would say is. "we put money into brittish banking because this is the way forward, Banking in Britian is how we make money"< statement from 2005, Well its amazing how a labour government could sell off Industry! Also please remember Land rover /Jaguar sale from Ford to TATA? Well Rana TATA has plenty of cash, he came cap in hand to the British government and asked for cash to keep the companies in Britain. The government agreeed! Rana Tata is a Multi-Billionare! explain?
