A long BNSF train of empty coal cars, on the old Northern Pacific mainline at Bismarck, ND, passes westbound over the Missouri River, as viewed from a tour boat passing under the bridge, in July of 1999. The train toots to the boat, and the boat returns the salute. Before the train is completely off the bridge, it applies the brakes, making a thunderous noise as the slack comes out of the train.
