Climb of Pico Volcano, Azores

Video taken on a climb of Pico volcano on Pico Island in the Azores, August 4, 2006. First part is a pan of the summit caldera, then a view from the top of Piquinho, the highest point, with clouds racing by. Ends with view of hikers crossing the summit caldera.

Just heads up, climbing up the paths of Pico may seem easy and it is, but you should not go up without a local guild. It can become very dangerous if you leave the path or if a fog comes in, you can find yourself in big trouble. I have been up there three times. Also the rocks are volcanic rock and very lose and unstable and extreme caution should be used.
