Green Frog brings you some of the most exciting steam action you've seen in a long time...steam from the 60's and early 70's. Most of these locomotives are either still active, or available for viewing in various parts of the USA.

Through the 16mm camera of Bill McClellan you'll witness superb color photography of the following steam locomotives:

4-6-2 Canadian Pacific #127
2-10-0 Strasburg #90
0-6-0 Conway Scenic Railroad #47,
2-8-0 Morris County Central #385, 2-8-0 #382
0-6-0 #4039 (the latter in winter snow!)
4-8-4 Reading 2100 and 2102 doubleheaded!!!
The Reading 4-8-4 in Delaware and Hudson style
Canadian National 4-8-4 #6218
Canadian Pacific 4-6-4T #47
Steamtown 2-6-0 #89

What a fantastic collection of steamers!!! Many running on mainlines of the east, the 2100 and 2102 doubleheaders are particularly exciting as they fly by at close to 60 miles per hour!
Approx. Run Time 60 Minutes

  • Im wondering if you recieved the rights to this video from MADACY Entertainment. Their video contains EXACTLY the same footage as seen here. In fact, the narration is very much the same! Their title is the same too! "Twilight of Steam".

  • Actually Madacy received the rights to this video from us, along with a number of other videos they market which came from the Green Frog Railroad Video Library!

    Green Frog Prod. Ltd.

  • how is there a 2-8-0 382!!??

  • 2-8-0 is the Driver or(wheel) arrangement of the Loco. Meaning 2 front wheels, 8 driving wheels, and 0 trailing wheels. #382 is the Loco number posted on the side of the Loco!

  • This Loco is still in the Steamtown collection. If they are going to continue with Canadian steam this would be more economical to use rather then 3254. Use 2317 or that Boston & Maine engine if it ever gets finished for the heavier special trains. This suburban engine would be great for days when only a few cars are used.

  • I've heard of another 4-6-4T being restored in Quebec. I wish there was a G scale model of this engine.

  • @GreenFrogVideos i know what a 2-8-0 is, i just didnt see the number 382 in the program

  • the description said we would see reading T1s. There were none. This was a total letdown

  • When paperwork is lost on a steam engine...due to fire...or whatever the circumstances...there are 2 things crucial to getting everything in order...#1 is money and #2 is performing a complete 1472 day overhaul. There are many engines out there today running that did not come with a stack of "My Own Running History" folders. Any engine can be made to run for a price. If EVERY rail fan would antie up say $1000.00 every year to steam...well you get the picture.

  • @atsf3415dbr So, they couldn't even have painstakingly inspected every inch of the steel in her boiler? Replace all the flues and other piping? It's an all,or nothing deal? I don't understand this policy. If anyone out there is a boiler inspector, or knows this policy well, could you please give me more information?

  • nostalgic...she and her sisters 45-46-48-49 and 50 worked exclusively on CNR commuter service between Montreal & Vaudreuil, often racing with the CPR trains next to it. A few finished their days on the short stub between Pointe-Calumet and St-Eustache c1960.

  • I do too.

  • They won't be able to use the 47 because it's maintanence records were lost ina fire.
