Matthew Good - Hornets (2010 Demo - Cleaner & Extended)

PostScript: I have another version on my computer (about 4 minutes in length) which may be a later version or earlier...I can't remember.

When I say 'Cleaner and Extended', I mean in comparison to the "older" demo that was uploaded to youtube by user "FlyingThruCanyons". This is the last demo of the song, "Hornets" that Matt recorded (correct me if I am wrong).

In addition to the increased length, you will also notice that it seems slowed down and a bit softer. Also, Matt has added some layering to his vocals. From what I remember, and I am paraphrasing here (and again correct me if I am wrong), Matt decided to scrap this song because he felt he had "done it before". He tried reworking the song numerous times, but he could never get it to where he wanted it to be. In my opinion the song has promise, but it becomes too repetitive, both in repetition of lyrics and previous musical styles (i.e. from his previous work, "Vancouver").

Although, I still enjoy the "I can feel the Atmosphere" lyrics. The lyrics give me a sense of being on top of a mountain, overlooking a valley and coming to a great realization in life...a new beginning (hence the picture I've uploaded with it).

I am not sure if putting this version on youtube adds anything new, but whatever. Anyways, that is my two cents...feel free to add yours.

@MatthewGoodRox Wow really? I'm shocked and saddened... He's wonderful live. I've seen him 7 times so far and I'm seeing 3 shows this tour (maybe more - living in Toronto, there's a LOT within reach this time). Are there no shows near you? :(

@turnoffthetv Nope, I can't use that as an excuse. There are lots of shows near me (I live in Burlington). I've just never been much of a concert goer, although Matt's acoustic concerts are just my cup of tea. They are calm and quiet, allowing for the enjoyment of the artist - just a man and a guitar.

Thanks for this. He played it in Toronto last night (Nov. 4) and I had not heard it before. It was quite beautiful, as was the entire show - stellar. Which is how he always is (have seen him perform many times.) He never fails to amaze and inspire.
