David Poole of the Charlotte Observer passed away suddenly on April 28, 2009. Poole was a legendary presence in the sportswriting world, covering NASCAR for 14 years. In this tribute produced by PRN, his friends and collegues remember a gifted member of the racing community.

very sad to hear, watched him on speed channel and he was the best at telling things how he saw them. Whether i agreed or disagreed with his view on a topic you could always make sense of his ideas unlike other commentators

Yes will be missed. I too have listened to him since he signed on ,on Morning Drive and yes he will be missed very much. It just wont be the same anymore.

mr poole will be miss i drive trucks rather u agree with him or not he did not step down to no one and was never scare to speak his mind you may scream at the radio but i have learn from him u speak ur mind rather its right or not may God bless his family and mrn radio friends and all of us in radion land and Mr Bagley

david will truely be missed thoughts and payers to his family and coleagues really loved listen to him and baggly every morning made driving trk fun kept me awake on replay while driving god bless you david you will be missed
