I remember this scene. I've watched it time and again because it reminds me of what a true soap opera used to be......but Ellen Parker transcends this....when she spits "YOU SLEPT WITH MY HUSBAND!!" all of Guding Light came down with her. Killing Maureen Bauer in the aftermath of this sealed the fate of this show and if you want to blame the cancellations of most other soaps (As The World Turns especially), you need only see Jill Farren Phelps' name at the head of the list.

riveting - one of the best scenes in soap ever when Maureen talks with Lillian! Affairs happen all the time on soaps but it was so powerful because it was Ed/Maureen.

I've started watching GL in 1988 and this is still the most powerful scene that the show has ever done. The show has never been the same since they killed of Maureen.

Jill Farren Phelps wrecks every soap she produces. On GL, she fired Mindy #2 and Maureen, and got Beverly McKinsey to walk out in disgust. On ANOTHER WORLD, she killed off another popular character (Frankie) and drove away viewers; AW was cancelled not long after. And every other soap she's run seems to lose ratings while she's in charge. With that track record, who keeps hiring her, and why??
