  • RIP Ross MacManus 11/24/11

father of Declan (Elvis Costello) who once said in an interview that this was a favorite song that he wold like to have be his epitaph.

  • @gailmahoney Thank you so much for pointing our Mr. MacManus' passing. I wouldn't have known otherwise.

    Geoff

PS, I agree with Ross on his epitaph. I don't think anyone else has posted this version of the song on YT..

  • @gailmahoney

It was a special arrangement that was played live in the Church at Ross' mass.

3 of the Brodsky Quartet played and the congregation listened intently to a piece

that he had requested, and had said " Was one of his Sons best pieces ."

  • @baldymarius Thanks for the info! This song is so beautiful I can't get enough info about it....

  • Every time I listen to this song it brings tears to my eyes.

    This song is a tearjerker.

  • @drey261 It is hard to not become emotionally engaged when listening to this one. I agree with you.

Thanks for your comment my friend.

  • How funny! I'm sitting here with my beat up copy of The Juliet Letters next to me and run across this. Yay!

  • this, by far, remains my fave song....... and i;m not into E.C at all, hahaha.

  • This is a real gem from a master songwriter, a high point in his career. Haunting and beautiful..

  • @jackemlyn062 But isn't that the truth? That's what makes it so powerful to me. After I'm gone the world still exists in all it's raging glory. My loved ones should take comfort in that thought. I don't really think I'll ever be "gone" though, just watching from somewhere else quietly.

    ; ))
