Students ought to know why we have homework and why we practice problems. This video tries to explain why we do these things using scientific research about the effectiveness of homework. You'll learn that, according to what researchers have found, a typical student needs to practice/engage with an idea ______ times in order to reach 80% proficiency (that's a B-). • @GoosePM Thanks for your comment. Out of curiosity, are you a current student in one of my classes or did you randomly come across this video on YouTube?

  • its pointless im 11 i didnt go to school to come home and have more school to do i might make a video saying why theres no point i work hard at school i dont care about my homework but i still do it good its boring as hell!!!

  • @tomtomsatnav1234 Thanks for sharing your opinion. I agree with you that school can be very demanding, and after going home it can be difficult to do any more things related to school. I believe though that homework should be used as practice, and it's difficult for students to practice enough in school to become strong enough in their skills. It's very similar to practicing an instrument or practicing sports. I'm sorry it's so boring for you, but I think you'll enjoy learning one day.

  • Hi smackage1015,

Thanks for your comment. Let me share my thoughts to your very good points. Generally, there's not enough time in the school day for students to fully master the material, so HW is an extention of the day where a student can practice. Yes, it does take time, and with many classes this can be demanding, especially in high school. However, I believe it pays off in the end, as students learn how hard work, discipline, and making good choices can lead to positive results.
