28 Weeks Later anti-American? That makes no sense whatsoever. Anyway, the director and co-writer has outright said in interviews that it wasn't intended to be political commentary.

I groaned at the mention of Jim McBride's 'Breathless', but then when he mentioned that had more to say on the silver surfer than 'FF2', it was a horrifying moment of realising, he's right.
