Independence draws nearer and the count reveals the strange background to Merrick's murder. Meanwhile, Ahmed disappears after an incident on a train comes to light, leaving Sarah and Perron to do what they can. Last in series, starring Charles Dance
@mannixisle - This series is a great one but only a fool bases his understanding of the British raj in India only on one film series. The story is far more complex and interesting than your facile analysis allows. Most of the massacres were committed in the name of politics, not religion and let us not forget that the worst mass-murderers in history were atheists: Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot for starters.
Thank you for posting this series. Quite a task. I've not seen it since first aired. A ghastly history. Politics and religion, the curse of humanity. Monotheism really seems to be of something Evil if one looks at its fruits.
The final is very moving and beautiful. It's very dramatic how Hari Kumar is filmed writing and the scene becomes a photo like the others, part of the history of India.
It's monstrous how some of the most heinous acts were committed in the name of religion. The English lady sleeps on the train and Peabody sits there drinking tea, oblivious to the suffering of wounded. Sarah and Guy seem to be the only British with real empathy for the Indians.
