  • @328compact hey guys great job i read u sed u changed the axel where did u get the seperate axel to fit your compact im in the process of doing the same thing..what major parts did u have to chang, any chasis strengthening?

  • @MiniWalk1

The drive shafts can be replaced with ones from Z3 / MZ3 / E30. The E30 drive shaft need to be modified to fit.

An X-Brace and Strutbrace where used to strengthen the front, this not an essential step.

I recommend going to 318ti.org/forum/ for more information on Compact engine swaps. There is a section dedicated to engine swaps. :)

  • Hey guys! Congratulations - it looks and sound amazing. I have a question - wanna do the same thing with my compact - what was the price of this modification? I mean, engine + other parts + work, how much it should cost? How much you spent? Thanks for answer.

  • The cost very much depends on how much you wanna spend. I replaced all bushes suspension the lot to make the car like new. Basically if you can find a damaged z3 2.8 you would have pretty much all the bits you need for a good price. I got the bits from a breakers.

Don't forget to find insurance that will cover you on the changes before starting the swap.

  • Hey mate! Thats pretty sweet! I'm looking at doing the same thing to mine! maybe even a M3 evo engine! You got any tips for me! Kinda Probs I myt come across? Cheers matey! Dave

  • Have a look on 318ti(dot)org forum there is a section for engine swaps. There is loads of info on how its done, issues etc.

  • ohhh nice man, its like a porn for my ears

  • deserves more than 193hp ;)

  • Everything was upgraded to match the engine. Only thing left is the Diff. I've been running the stock diff for the last couple of years. Its held up fine but I found a medium size case 3.15 diff which I plan to install at some point. Will drop the revs a little for the motorway.

  • woaw good job i take it you had to replace the tranny, diff, axel, brakes n suspension?
