You are absolutely right. Issues of value are social and cultural and personal. All we can say empirically is that there are people who like Cop Rock and there are people who don't like it. Given this why do people flex their critical muscles on web sites like this? Isn't it a waste of time and energy?
I loved that show! I recorded most of the episodes to watch at my convenience. I wish I had kept the tapes! Anyone remember when the mayor (Barbara Bosson) was getting plastic surgery, leading to that mega-hit song "Bigger's always better when it's underneath the sweater!"
I'm one of the few that loved Cop Rock. Good story lines, good songs, good production values. Musicals just aren't meant for prime time, that's all. Most people don't just get 'em. Having said that, now let me say that I never found this particular scene believable. Does she really get that dressed up just to slave away in the kitchen? They are singing about how hard their life is yet they got a lot more money than I do. Poor little rich people!
I love how Hollywood is so disillusioned with reality--she says "there's never any money" when referring to being a cop's wife, yet that kitchen is something most of us would dream of having, let alone the house connected to it. I guess that's an early 90's tv execs version of struggling?
show was ok,,,,enjoyed it's short season
