The Toronto Argonauts beat the Montreal Alouettes 20-14 in a Canadian Football League game in 1977. The game at Olympic Stadium in Montreal featured the largest attendance for a CFL game in history - 69,000-plus. This clip from the CBC broadcast shows the Toronto defence in action, led by middle linebacker Ray Nettles. "Barnes runs into a brick wall named Ray Nettles." He played only one year in Toronto, but the late, great Ray Nettles was the spiritual and physical leader on the best CFL defence I ever saw. They don't get mentioned ever because they went 6-10 on the season, but the 1977 Toronto Argonauts had an absolutely fantastic defence.
Wow, Marv Levy! He looks just the same as later with the NFL Bills...okay, a little younger, but exactly that same expression.

It is Don Chevrier.

Good stuff. The (now late) Ray Nettles could really play... Argo D in '77 was stout.

Beautiful uniforms for Toronto... sweet.

That sounds like Don Chevrier in the play-by-play chair. This is a little before my time but still, its a great up load. Can I plead for more of the 82-88 era of Argo football?
