Dream City
A portrait of visitors of a theme park in a city in Northern Iraq.
This Minimovie portrays several visitors of the theme park Dream City, who talk about their life in Iraq. Stories about fear, the role of ethnicity and religion, hate and violence, but also stories about the future, dreams, courage and hope. This series of portraits paints a probing, almost surreal picture of a country and a population that is completely torn apart. Majid - a tourist from the violent city of Mosul: 'It is our fate as Iraqis, to live in misery. I can't remember ever really laughing. I envy those people who can really laugh.'
Director
Tomas Kaan (1979) He wrote reports about turbulent areas such as Kosovo, Ukraine, and the Middle-East. He directed television programs home and abroad, commissioned films, and documentaries, such as the documentary 'Amsterdam - Kosovo' (2005).
