I've always wanted to get on a polyphasic schedule, but starting it is always the hardest part. From what I've seen from other people that try this stuff, once you're used to it, you're more awake and energetic, and you feel better and more conscious.
I'm interested in the Dymaxion version, where you sleep for 30 minutes every 6 hours, which gives you longer awake periods. (as opposed to uberman, which is 20 minutes every 4 hours.) Cause that seems more compatible with a work schedule.

The average monophasic sleeper doesn't need 9 hours of sleep, only about 7-8.
The polyphasic sleeper doesn't get only 15 minutes of sleep, he gets between 2-4 hours of sleep.
That's per day of course.

Hey man if you ever read this I'd really like to know how you set up the shower thing. I've screwed up polyphasic sleeping so many times I can't count. Thanks.

try the yahoo group on polyphasic sleep/uberman, helped me when i first got into it.there doesnt seem to be any research on the long term risks or benefits of polyphasic sleeping. most people dont realy continue after about a year at the most, seems to be a short term thing anyway.
