In Grand Fork, North Dakota, at the 2008 World Men's Curling Championships, Canada beat Scotland and over twenty years of hard luck to become the world champions. Scotland has held the title three times in the last four years, and originally defeat Canada for the straight line to the finals. Canada had to then defeat Norway before getting their rematch with Scotland for the title. Canada picked up the lead early and held on for a 6 to 3 victory. (WCSN, WCSN.com)

  • OMFG this was one of the most intense moments in sports history. I actually developed a serious case of swamp ass when I was watching this and it was like 40 degrees in my house! I wonder if someone is going to develop a PS3 curling game. It would sell like hot cakes!

  • Petty arguments (like what's below) are absolutely antithetical to curling. Yes, curling does require a good deal of skill, fitness and intelligence. But while athleticism may be more necessary at the World Championship than a local Thursday night mixed league, sportsmanship, friendliness and respect for the sport's great traditions are vital in ALL levels of curling.

The IOC is plagued by greed and scandal. I'd say the Olympics need curling--the least cynical of sports--now more than ever.

  • lol canadians think this is a real sport =)

  • @davidrodgersNJ Curling originated in Scotland, when I don’t know…
