@robertvoice Well the reason you see "insecurity" is that in the JKA championships they do fight for the one point (i.e. the kill in real life) now if you got into a fight (hope you don't ) and faced such a blow (the one kill attack) well the people watching they won't be seeing too much action, but they will surely help you get to a hospital, this is why you see more attacks in the WKF rules because the points to win must be in a margin of 8, I think you got my point.
@4rmtinc Xcuse me, but all I see is insecurity here And Not precise movements. I ain't wanting to criticize, It's is just What I see on the fight based on my experience of martial Arts. The last martial art I would prefer is "karate".
@robertvoice In karate (specifically JKA Shotokan System), we always seek perfection of techniques, which is done by humans. Although this endeavor is hard to attain, we always seek for it. I don't know but as a human, it's a challenge for me. It would be more of a challenge to imitate movements of animals if I can even perfect movements of human.
@fafasasa It all depends on how your sensei was trained and how she teaches. The problem with karate today is that it's becoming too commercialized that even though students who don't deserve to be promoted gets promoted (no offense here :)) for fear of losing them. You don't need to be in Japan to have a good karate instruction, you just need to have a highly qualified and sincere teacher. I'm lucky to have one. All the best and train harder. Oss!
It all depends on the type of tournament you attend.. This is a clip of the type match using AAU rules (These rules will be accepted by the Olympics when Karate is accepted as a sport) This way is how they spar at national and internationally rated events. Also kata's are performed in the traditional ways .
There are also what is known as "Open Tournaments" where most any style can compete...not just karate. There is a free style sparring is allowed and kata's are often flashy to show off.
@NibSaw Yes, I got it!!! ;)
