Someone ages ago commented on "the sexualized aspects of it all like an ecstasy of St. Theresa kind of thing".
It fits with the lyrics too - "I went to the tower where the church bells chimed, I prayed that they would clear my mind". D'you see what I mean?

Just noticed your reply! I haven't got the album yet, so not heard "Howl", but I really really want to get it, perhaps the Deluxe one if I can! Dark can be good, but I like lighter things too! ^_^ And I saw Florence! She was a special guest at the Patrick Wolf concert I went to at the Palladium in London the weekend before last! ^_^ She sang a duet with Patrick, of his song "The Bachelor" - it was amazing! ^_^

thankgod the video matches the movement of the sound. so many music videos dont follow along with the beat, they just have shitloads of slowmo people walking and giving calvin klein drama looks

The whole 90s vibe/youth culture reflected the music (and vice versa) - each complimented each other (accompanied by the massive drug culture) & the results were awesomw.

I think a cool video for this would be if she was in a forest, first walking, then as it gets more climatic, running, then with the river bit it shows her kind of falling slow mo into a river. Then its her getting more and more desperate, running faster and faster, looking behind her, hands over her ears, tripping over, getting back up, running more... and then maybe at the end she kind of... well, I dunno. something big. But that would make a cool vid, I think.
