all pet stores are different I've been in some really well maintained petsmarts pet cos etc and I've been in some really bad ones... just like I've been in some really good private pet stores and some really bad ones (puppy mills for reptiles and rodents where the animals are bred to death) all of them are different the best thing to do is research and if something looks fishy GET OUT. period.

I Think Petsmart does a Great Job in caring for there animals , Stores like Petco and Petsunlimited not so much . As long as the animal looks healthy and is lively it should be fine , people dont understand the the employees at these store are there to help you , and to answer any questions u have !

@0010jackie Exactly. The Petsmart near me takes great care of its reptiles.. Petco not so much.. You just have to be careful in your decision when you buy from a pet store versus a breeder.

@ProTuner06 my friend has a leopard gecko that is now 9 years old is doing great and she got it from petsmart i think buying for petsmart is ok you just got to be careful and make sure what your buying looks healthy and ready to be adopted

Please DO NOT buy reptiles from Petco or any other big box store! Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy from a reputable Breeder.

Trust me. I've been doing this for a long time and I and any other 'Experienced' herp owner would NEVER buy herps from a store. Breeders are the way to go.
