Hunger is not the problem but a symptom of bad governance, lack of democracy at the domestic level and unjust global terms of trade at the international level. In the new world order land is being used to grow food to fuel cars and those who lack human rights and freedom are given food aid instead of help in their struggle to be free. What is the logic of sustaining lives of people who are then shot or torchered to death by their leaders or intentionally kept on the brink of starvation. Food aid is a means of supression and subjugation.
On May 15 Ethiopans 2005 Ethiopians tried to bring about peaceful change but the whole world ignored them choosing to welcome the dictator Meles Zenawi into his unelected position.
If you want to help Ethiopia help Ethiopians get rid of Meles Zenawi and the albanian marxist maltheusians of his terrorst TPLF regime.

  • A noble cause and she expressed her opinion as best as she could but as a song in and of itself I think it is a poor song. It provides little solutions and lacks intimacy or should I say passion.

  • @willieyanock The intentionally dispassionate lyrics clinically compare avoidable poverty & hunger with the willful wanton self destructive greed of the wealthy.Long before it became fashionable to do so, Joni is talking about waste:people & the environment.wasting away. Joni Mitchell's legendary observation skills & brilliant analytical mind, HER VERY HUMANITY SHINES IN THIS SONG OF DEEP EMPATHIC CONCERN. The truth in this 80's song is still true today& Ethiopians thank Joni for telling it.

  • to think that she wrote this song the LAST time the horn of Africa was dying of hunger...and what have we learned - zilch! what have we done? zilch. and just the other side of that narrow strip of water between the Horn of Africa and Arabia are some of the riches countries in the world....and what have they done? financed the janjawid and the local terrorists instead of helping these countries to survive. so much for islamic solidarity
