  • Really good video. Do you know of a good place to get different size barrels?

  • @philliptjr1

    YES I DO!!!!

For original barrels, look to gunbroker. For new barrels DW still makes and sells barrels, though it can get pricey very quickly. For CUSTOM barrels I hihgly suggest EWK Technologies. Eric has extra barrel nuts, barrels, shrouds, and the best fiber optic sights all for DW revos!

  • Thanks for the flick! I got the barrel nut part down and then found that the barrel shroud was stuck and will not slide off even with quite a bit of force... Any suggestions?

  • @dirtyharry970

I just now saw this post. I have never heard of shrouds being stuck, in and of themselves as the only thing holding them on is the tension of the barrel nut. The EXCEPTION to this are the first gen "ported" guns. Generally 44 mags. What happends is that hot lead and carbon build up between the barrel and the shroud. For this reason, it is always suggested to shoot only jacketed bullets in such guns, and to take them down and clean them often.

  • @dirtyharry970

Try soaking the muzzle end in something like KROIL for a few days. This will need to be deep enought to reach the barrel ports. The shroud is pinned so do not strike/twist it perpendicular to the muzzle. A small amount of heat applied to the barrel muzzle may also help. Use a Ronson micro-torch.

  • Hi There. Great Video! I have a .44 Stainless with the 4" & 8" barrels and have been looking to find a SS .357 to match. I've seen a few at the gun shows but in poor condition.

Question tho: I assemble my .44 with the recommended .006 gap, (also required on the Large Frame DWs and the Super Mag), but my old instructions state that the .357 forcing cone to cylinder gap should .002. Is there some reason you have found that the .357 should use .006?

GREAT tool box too! I'm jealous!!

  • @dgpete13

This may clear up the confusion: the .357 MAX ( not the .357 Magnum) uses .002.

PS: the tool box is available from Harbor Frieght for $80... its a steal for our use.

  • @PineSG ah ha! for the .357 MAX. got it, thanks! Just swapped to the 8" for a hog hunt in a couple of weeks.

And I have a Harbor Freight just a few miles away! I love that place.

    Thanks for the tip!!

  • @dgpete13

Those .44 ( aka model 744) are great looking guns esp with 4" VH barrel on it! So far I have been satisfied with the small frame (medium frame) DW's so all mine have been 15-2 (.357). In all cases, the model 15-2 uses .006 gap. It is my understanding that it is the supermags that can tolerate the .002 gaps. Now all that said, as you probably well know, the gap on a DW is infinately adjustable and most DW owners find thier own gap generally between .002 and .006 anyway.

  • @PineSG oh ok. great!! thanks so much. and yeah i think mine is stainless. but honestly, i dont care the color, i just wunna get a 6" barrel. but thanks again for the help.
