WOW does this bring back some memories! I grew up watching Kitirik in Houston....a much simpler time!
I heard a story, not sure if it's true, that around 1964 she asked a young girl what she wanted to be when she grew up, and the kid said "a call girl", to which Kitirik promptly replied "Oh you mean a telephone operator" as the crew tried (and failed) to suppress their laughter.
