I have seen the Priefert Hitch at the Professional Bull Riding, and did not know about the connection with the Sparrows. My brother that made the clock with the collar also is production manager for the PBR.
Good to see the hitch. My brother-in-law used to work summers on Dick's ranch. My family has a collar and hames used on the colts breaking them, my brother has added a leather back and clockworks and the postcard picture of the hitch. My brother-in-law's name was Ron Christensen.
@userunavailable3095 Wow, cool. I'm pleased to make your acquaintance. I was an avid reader of the Draft Horse Journal for many years. I didn't know they put the hitch together for more than the Baraboo parade.
@userunavailable3095 The 40 horse hitch was not a once a year thing. My dad, Dick Sparrow, drove the hitch form 1972-1977 participating in the Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Indianpolis 500, Kentucky Derby, Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. and hundred of fairs and other parades and festivals. We traveled to all but 16 states and made a minimum of 75-100 appearence dates. Later he drove 6 for Coors from about 85-2002
My brother dorve the 40 once a year from 1984-2004 in Circus Parade.
@HorsieLuva1001 I'm glad to hear the family is carrying on those skills. I never met the man, but I was an avid follower of the Draft Horse Journal in my teens: a cover to cover reader. I was an admirer, if I wasn't a friend.
@userunavailable3095 His daughter Rose is married to Jason Goodman, and they run the Priefert hitch now. They are both incredibly nice people, and we were sorry that he passed. He was an amazing man!
@code3responder I'm sorry to hear that. He had a very well lived life. Isn't his son still involved with horses? It seems that I'm still seeing the Sparrow name around.
Have you run across Neil Dimmock on here? It seems that he, too, is following in Dick Sparrows footsteps.

@userunavailable3095 did I say something offensive? If I offend someone, I'm certainly sorry.
