Apostasy Challenge

The apostasy challenge consists of converting to Islam and then forsaking it, because Islamic law then marks you for death. The point is that it's immoral for a religion to mandate your execution simply for peacefully leaving it. This hit home for me in particular when I was in Afghanistan protecting the "democratic" government there and they sentenced a local to death for apostasy when he became a christian. In the end he fled to Italy. This was in the news and I found it pretty demoralizing.

i think that you should learn to be more tolerant, no one stopped you from believing what you like, but you are judging an entire religion on an ignorant guess, i am not muslim, but i have alot of muslim friends, and i have had discussions with them about their religion, there is alot of extremists of this religion, but if u say islam is its extremist version, then you should really do your research before you do something like this, because you're making a compete fool of yourself, sry to say.

The penalty for apostacy is spelled out in the Quran, which I believe is considered a valid source for religious guidance by virtually all muslims.

I'm not just hateful. I tried to keep an open mind about islam for a long time, but what clinched it for me was spending a lot of time in the middle east.  It's oxymoronic to feel some obligation to respect the beliefs of a group who not only disrespects your beliefs, but literally can't even imagine the possibility of having your beliefs. There is a lot more to believe in than "the book"

There was a brutal tragedy in Iraq some time ago; a girl was brutally murdered by stoning, some time after 2 bombs went off in that area killing some people.

Media: "ohh lookie at dum crazy muslims".

The family that killed the girl is Yasedi, not muslim, in fact muslims despice them for worshipping "he who was sendt down to the earth" (seen as satanism).

She was in love with a muslim boy, converted, and were leaving with him when caught.

Since she was then muslim, she had to be avenged.

It sounds harsh, but it also has an opening - if they can escape they are to be free, you see, there is so many "wordings" that any one source can be very misleading.
