I was on my way home from a UNC TV shoot when I came upon Pittsboro North Carolina's iconic courthouse on fire. Shot this 3 minute video with my Sony XDCamHD. The courthouse was built in 1881 and was undergoing renovations when the fire broke out. The courthouse was recently in the news concerning the John Edwards video case. The clock tower collapsed on Friday morning around 115 am. No one was injured.
The best thing that ever happened to pittsboro :)

Superb footage and editing. I saw nothing anywhere near this accomplished on local TV. Had there been injuries or fatalities I don't believe I could watch. There is something so emblematic about small Southern courthouses -- think "To Kill A Mockingbird," "Inherit the Wind," etc. NC has so many outstanding examples, most with a statue of a CSA soldier on the grounds -- always facing North -- can't turn your back on the enemy! Very sad to see this one go. (I'm your bro's friend Eliz.)
