Step-by-step demonstration of how to replace the blown capacitors in your LRM-519. The parts are available here: http://www.opamp-electronics.com/catalog/2200uf-10v-105c-radial-electrolytic-...

Thanks to philbertduncan@yahoo.com for the technical detail and inspiration.

  • Did you have to re-solder the ends?

  • @dirtmound Yes... the new capacitors must be soldered onto the board. I don't recommend trying this unless you know how to solder electrical components.

  • Thank you so much for this great video. You made it easy to fix my LRM-519. I thought I would have to have someone else look at the power supply. Those of your that try this: make sure you get long radials on your replacement capacitors...it's a tight fit.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! My LRM-519 has been dead for 6 months with the faint HELLO on the display. This step by step video helped me fix the problem and my DVR is now back in action! Only thing is that the company listed for obtaining the capacitors seems to have a dead website. I found my capacitors on eBay. Thanks again for taking the time to produce this very helpful video!

  • @jbmcsorley I assumed as much, but you just kinda skipped over that part. I've only soldered once - and successfully I might add to save my tv - but I'd rather not go through all that again. Thanks for the update.

  • i was able to fix up mine, a million thanks!

  • Dude You Rock- my DVR has been dead for over a year- I thought I would have to bite the bullet and buy a TIVO and pay through the nose for service. I ordered the parts- they got here today and I gave it a shot-Now I'm back in business!!! Thank You So Much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well done. I was so happy thinking that I could possibly fix my dead LG DVR. I had the same C18-C36 non-flat capacitor on my Power Supply board. I replaced those but still no DC output. No voltage on C18 either C36. Something else is wrong.

    Any other suggestion? Checks?
