My class read this book and we're almost done with the movie. I think they should make a remake but more like the book.

Don, you don't have to defend Paul because he was openly gay and his partner Charles Gillan, Jr. is buried with Paul. They were together for 30 years and Charles died in 2002, 2 years before Paul died. Just wanted to clear up the gay or not gay debate. Regardless of what he did in his bedroom he was an excellent actor. The guy who played Ike in this movie is actually blues legend Taj Mahal. He's on youtube, check out Taj Mahal and Devah Mahal his daughter. They sing together!

Paul Winfield was a great actor. Just looked him up on imdb and discovered he died young in 2004. I did not know.....Also adore Cecily Tyson!
