Stereo-ized 1965 Phillips mono Missa Luba: Les Troubadours du Roi Baudouin perform an arrangement by Father Guido Haazen. The entire album has never been reissued, and no currently available recording matches the original's spirit.

  • If I recall correctly, this was played at the end of the movie, "The Singing Nun." I also once heard it at an opening exhibit of African art at a museum. This, as part of the Missa Luba, is, in my opinion, enculturation at its best--blending the Roman liturgy with African music.

Thanks for putting this on YouTube :D

  • The sounds of my childhood replayed - thank you!

  • Best.Ever. Version. of the Mass.

  • The B side of the 45rpm Sanctus single which I preferred to the better known A side. I thought it had been completely forgotten. Thank you!

  • En 1958, à l'expo de Bruxelles,j'ai vu et entendu les Troubadours du roi Baudouin, j'avais 11ans et j'en garde un merveilleux souvenir. Les entendre me ravi.Michèle C.
