@STNeish It was implied in TOS that the ships could do that. (Warp speed combat manuvers) The un-remastered version of this episode is an example. See it at startrek[dot]com

The thing that bothers me is the insistence on making StarSHIPS fly around fighting as if they're StarFIGHTERS. It's something they started doing on DS9 and I didn't like it there, either. Ships like this should be manuevering relatively slowly, not chasing and dogfighting.

@UpdocFilms oh really? my father and I watch the original trek for years and we LOVE the new effects just as much as the old ones. with the rate technology is advancing, in 5 years the CGI will look just as good as models. just look at Avatar.
