Your first mistake was assuming that objective goodness and evil exist.

dude......... the reason why we do good is because we most of us either are, or because we simply want, and we don't do it so that we wouldn't be dammed to hell after life. we are good because we either are, or because we simply want to improve ourselves.

So, you do what's right because someone tells you to? Isn't it more moral to do good simply because you know it's the right thing to do?
You clearly don't understand what it is Dawkins was saying. He was talking from a societal aggregate. That we form tribes, clans, states, countries, et al, proves him right.
Your misunderstanding of things literally hurts my brain.

You have such a narrow view of what an atheist might think. Open your mind. Stop making things up.

Go back to ur fucking hole in ur country ur fucking shit

@winterstellar OH, and to you main question: It varies a bit culturally what we perceive as "good" or "bad", but since we're all members of the exact same species, and have the same DNA, the variation is not very big. It will have been slightly different before and will hopefully evolve to be slightly different later, but it doesn't happen "over night". Nothing does in evolution.: )

Altruism or apparent altruism evolved very early in species who live in groups, for pretty damned obvious and natural reasons. If they had been killing eachother they would either go extinct or evolve into solitary living species. THere's no hocus-pocus to it, and I can recommend a YouTube video made by an evolutionary biologist here on the subject of evolution of morality. It's called *Evolution of morality*: )

here's a highly likely "issue" that your question might pose... the word "good" means so many different things to different people.
your answers will vary and be inconsistent, likely, because of the difficulty of a clear definition of that word and the variances in PERCEIVED definitions of those answering...
basically, people may answer the question differently because they think of the question itself differently... regardless of their answer!

just cuz you believe in god doesnt make you a good person.

WHAT IF...... And WHY would it not be possible to be "good" just because I'm an atheist? There are christians who are really really bad people.
And why do everyone say as they would KNOW that everything good comes from god......
That is the thing without grounds=god
You're a very cowardly person. Instead of putting forth your ideas of what you believe to be good and evil you submit yourself to a higher power blindly. Have some courage and believe in yourself, you weakling.
