Cartoon Cartoon Fridays found its roots in Cartoon Network's first original show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast. First aired in 1995, this cartoon talkshow (itself a revolutionary idea) contained a weekly section entitled World Premiere Toon. This was used as a testing ground for the next generation of cartoons that the network had begun ambitiously producing. The first World Premiere Toon was Craig McCraken's The Powerpuff Girls' episode, Meet Fuzzy Lumpkins, and it was very well received. The Powerpuff Girls' success opened the door for other cartoons, each by a different artist, to be shown each following week. These included Johnny Bravo, Sledgehammer O'Possum, George and Junior, Hard Luck Duck, Dino, and Yuckie Duckie. Of these only Johnny Bravo and The PowerPuff Girls would survive.

  • I am going to go to every goddamn store in this city and buy every collectors edition, bundle, marathon DVD or every single last cartoon of my childhood, then Im going to request 2 weeks off work, then im going to go home, put on my pajamas, turn off my phone, and watch every episode nonstop until I cry myself to sleep. I am not fucking joking...

  • One the reasons I don't own cable these days. They took Cartoon, Cartoon Friday's off the air and replaced it with crap eventually. Yeah, yeah...I know networks like Cartoon Network are trying to appeal to currently young viewers who might find this stuff as old and dated. But, they still could have kept most of those cartoons on the air now and adapted their humor to today's standards. Why do you think an animated show like The Simpsons lasted so long on the air for over 20 years?

  • This was definetly the best Cartoon Network fase! You'd turn on the tv and literally every cartoon was actually worth to watch and rewatch. Nowadays they keep shoving crap like Ben 10 in our faces...
