@SycohDesigns most commonly referred to as scratchy pads, its like steel wool, except alot stiffer and used in the kitchen for scrubbing hard cooked on food and such off dishes.

I would add one step to your cleaning process. From the point where you pull the controllers out of the water, wear latex gloves. Oil from fingers LOVES plastic.

dish "soap" ? or do you mean dish "detergent" ? some of the soaps have oils in them to moisten your hands.. there is also a fundamental chemical difference.
many companys offer both products

@TheRocketSilo Dawn works great. Yeah, you just want the degreasing stuff. Even the moisturizing kind works as long as it cuts grease. It's kinda hard to go wrong...
