western can have as less tack or as much its what the rider wants, you can stay on the horse for adjusting both your stirrup and the girth it depends on your saddle, a lot of western tack is just as light or maybe even lighter in some cases, barrel racing, cutting, pole bending, tie down, calf roping, and soooo many more are amazing, everything in western is pretty, there is a saddle horn for a reason, there is soo much balance people like the night shows for a reason. riding is amazing though!!

English doesn't nessecarily have less tack. You can stay on the horse to adjust the girth and stirrup in a western or english saddle. Western tack can be light. Maybe even lighter than english at times.Barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, roping, etc. are very fantastic. Western riding is pretty, especially cutting. Plus you can add bling. The horn has a good purpose. Have you seen how much balance you need? Helmets are dresscode at many places. Simply stating facts :)

@DurrHurr1892 inhumane? I would say yes some horses enjoy dressage. For example, at a fair riding a AQHA pleasure horse who likes to do collected canters, half passes, lead changes, side passes, ect....to show off and have fun while we are doing poles and barrels and he does it all himself.

I don't do dressage, ihave no interest in trying to teach my horse it, i prefere free range jumping and i give my horse his head he just holds it in:L

yall just cut the argueing!!! evryone is entitled to their own opinion and expressing it!!! i like all types of riding and me and my single horse are competition worthy of english western and especially endurance so hows about yall grow up mature and let people love their horses wthout harrassment!!!english and western are very different but both bring us closer to our horses thats all that matters!!!

dresssage may be pretty but do you think a horse really enjoys it? western is a little bit more inhumane. long dangling reins, the horse can move his/her head freely. in my oppinion though im a fan of both. it depends on your horse. i'd rather people come up with more hackamores for all around events. im not a fan of bits.

part 2 of 2 I rely on him to keep me safe and he relies on me for the same reason. He not only carries me + my extra 30 pounds of gear, but saddle bags for my tickets and his doritos. On the side of his saddle hangs one of our defenses, a 40" baton, but most importantly, he wears his badge on his chest. It doesn't matter what saddle my department requires me to ride in, what matters is Hero is the horse I'm riding. I'm proud to wear a uniform and represent all of the disciplines

part 1 of 2 Kinda sad reading the comments. Does it matter what tack you use? She is entitled to her opinion. Isn't it about the bond you have with your horse? Know what is the best discipline? The one that led you to your love for your horse. I lean toward Dressage, but am in an endurance style saddle about 8 hours a day. What is important is the complete trust I have with my horse. Mine will face off a threat and will step on anything I ask him to.

I prefer English because of the following reasons : More comfortable, More classy, more work out for your lower body. I often see people having their knees to loose against the saddle during riding, it seems that people tend to forget to add pressure with the knees against the saddle for safety reasons (helps you prevent to fall off or makes it harder to fall off). I rode western as a male when I was in the US and it thinking back, my testicles and erectile tissues already hurt...

@123RobynBoyd Actually I thought English was a lot easier to learn, there's just a main discipline there. it all depends on the person though, there's a lot of different things you can do with western, it has much more options, it's also possible to do many english riding things with a western saddle
I was trying to ignore these comments, but its directly linked to my email, which made it difficult. Regardless of opinions, the arguments made in this video are sound and well formed. All statements are supported with evidence. Further, most have over looked the ending statements that imply that it does not matter which way one rides, it's all about the horses. Also, confidence is what everyone needs to succeed :).
