I love the nonchalant bluntness of these stories... such as "he held a pillow over his father's head for a little while"

I will hopefully be directing this show in my university's next season. I like this more literal take on "The Writer and the Writer's Brother," but I imagined it to be far more dreamlike. This take on the dark fairy tale is very straight-forward, which serves this production very well, but I don't think this would work half as well onstage. I crave something far more disorienting (lighting?). Even so, this is brilliantly directed, and the formalistic acting supplies an affecting production.

It's so morbid, but so indeniably brilliant. I love The Pillowman.
