The Vermont Council on World affairs is hosting international visitors under the auspices of the Youth Leadership Program with Central Europe. This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is being coordinated at the national level by Meridian International Center.
This program is comprised of 14 young leaders and adult participants from Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia who have shown a strong interest in community engagement. A larger group including these students has already visited Washington, DC with this program, and then they split into groups going to Raleigh, Kansas City, and Burlington. From July 10-24 in Burlington, these young leaders will participate in a two year project aimed at developing the next generation of young leaders and creating collaborative projects catered to specific community needs such as literacy, environmental awareness or political policy.
In the video shown here, Derrick Brown gives a one on one lesson on the basics of 'scratching.' The VCWA would like to thank Derrick and everyone at The Lab for giving us some an unique and awesome experience.
