Very nice.

What lathe do you have? It is so quiet!

Beautiful is all I can say.

Ow man... If I ever come across such a nice burl I am a happy man.. All I have now is one small Birch burl, but someday I will find a piece like that.

what is it? seems like a hyper polished piece of wood, but without any meaning. please enlighten me...or is this purely a technical exercise?

you used hot glue????? wow........i would have glued a sheet of cartridge paper to it and then glued the mounting block to that, then just split the paper when you want to finish the bottom

I often use hot glue for work holding. I have also used the paper technique but the clean up is more difficult.
Like most work holding techniques in woodturning you need to know its limitations.
Don't expect that a hot glued surface will sit perfectly flat on its mating surface.
When the tail stock is not engaged keep side loads minimized.
You will notice that when turning this piece I kept the tail stock engaged whenever I could.

Sharp tools are always suspect, but I got the surface finish I was after. I started sanding at 320 and the finish filled nicely.
The video's aren't good enough quality to really show the fine shavings that occurred during final cutting.
