@AlanSessler I agree.

What a relief that instead of mocking, Steve Allen compares Frank to the choreographer whom he refers to as a "genius." You can tell in his tone of voice at the end that he knew that what he encountered was visionary.

Cool that Frank got everyone to participate in totally improvised child's play. He told them to forget all their music theory and sense of formality and have fun. I would dare to say that rhyme Steve Allen broke out perhaps inspired some of Frank's own humorous lyrics over unique compositions.

@jlynchvideo - "Suzy" was the very first allusion to, and the origin of, 'Suzy Creamcheese'. Odd to think it started there.

Steve Reich had been playing with something like sampling around that time also.

I was kinda amazed when I saw Zappa without the mustache!
So weird to see Zappa young and nervous, for all the charisma he picked up in later years. Props to Steve Allen for the right amount of humor for his 1960s audience without going so far as to ridicule Mr. Zappa.

Steve Allen was the best thing on TV in its time. The list of music greats who had their first appearances on his show, is impressive, and Allen himself was a great jazz musician and composer. He was non-discriminating in a time when most people were, and offered opportunity to young and innovative artists who might never have flourished without shows like his.
