This is what Mattheson wrote (in Bach's day) of the Allemande
In compositions for keyboard, lute, and viola da gamba the allemande, a real German invention The allemande is arpeggiated, serious, and in well worked-out harmony, it represents a contented or happy spirit which takes pleasure in calm and order.
This is not interesting at all (as another viewer commented). It is inconceivable that a German be oblivious of how an Allemande ought to be played...
just sublime this performer.
