Al Jolson, damals der Weltstar schlechthin, hat diesen Film zu dem gemacht, was er letztlich wurde. Dieser Film möchte an diesen jüdischen Ausnahmekünstler erinnern.

Really? Would the Beatles say that Jolson was the greatest? Because, although, he was talented, the very fact that whites wore black faces from the 1830s-1930s in the USA and even up to 1978 in the UK, just shows you how much African American music, and its' people, were one hand satired, and mocked. On the other hand, they were often ripped off an imitated with poorer quality. I don't think we could put Jolson in the same category as Louis Armstrong!!

@privateclem There is a huge difference between the use of blackface between 1830 - 1890/1900 and the use of blackface in the early parts of the 20th century. I do agree with you in terms of the early years of blackface. The film discusses the differences very detailed.
