With the new film in cinemas I thought it'd be a good time to have a look at some classic Trek.

All 10 films here. The good, the bad and the Shatner.

  • is the whole lot (every series and every film) worth buying

  • I'd say the whole lot's worth owning as I'm a big Trek fan...and I do indeed own the whole lot. :)

  • I have all these 10 and the new one. My fav star trek movie is a toss between Wrath of Khan & First Contact. I hated that Nemesis got such a bad rep, I thought it was quite good but not great.

  • @LyleBennet Except that he didn't die alone, Picard was right there next to him. He didn't save the Enterprise either, if they failed, they could just go back into the Nexus and do it all over again. Why did Picard choose to go back to three seconds before the rocket went off, why didn't he go back to when he first met Soran in Ten Forward and just throw him in the brig? Because the story sucks. Oh well, to each his own. Live long yada yada yada.

  • @mjmanning123 Even if I did explain to you why I like it you probably would only understand just a bit. I find it a bit emotional, yes it's more or less an extended TV episode but I like it. Nemesis I didn't think had a good story and thought it was confusing. But I like Generations and one of my favourite things is how Kirk dies alone, just how he always knew he would and I believe Kirk would have wanted to die saving the Enterprise and he did, so it's a good conclusion to his life

  • @LyleBennet Hey, Mr. Sensitive, I never said you couldn't have your opinion, I'm asking WHY you have it and was asking for clarification on why people people enjoy that wet fart of a turd movie. So please, explain to me why you think it's good so I may better understand...sheesh, loosen your pointy ears.

  • @mjmanning123 I'm so sorry, I didn't realise I wasn't allowed MY opinion

  • @LyleBennet How do you call Generations brilliant but Nemesis terrible? did you confuse the titles? Generations is such an awful story.

  • I love Star Trek The Motion Picture. I think that's how Star Trek TOS films should have been. That doesn't mean I don't like the other original series films. Wrath of Khan is brilliant. I love it that they bought back Khan. Search for Spock is good, but weak but good. Voyage Home was brilliant, loved the humour. I haven't seen 5 or 6 yet. I think Generations is a brilliant film. First Contact was the best Next Gen film. Insurrection is good, Nemesis is terrible, has it's moments like you said

  • Look a hand!

I'm a huge Trek fan. TOS is the only TV show from that time that I actually enjoy all the time. I think Star Trek Nemesis was a really bad send-off to the Next Gen cast. But at least the reboot, sequel and prequel Star Trek made up for it

  • I ain't seen any Star Trek films except The Voyage Home, which I thought was quite good if tedious in places, and about half of the new film which I didn't really enjoy (maybe I just need to see all of it to appreciate it), but I'd like to see some more ST films.

  • I got the first/second editions they sound dreadful over the newer later versions that are close to what I heard in 35/70mm at the Empire Leicester Square 20 years ago on Star Trek marathon day via the original JBL 13KW THX sound system for £10.00 pounds!
