  • 3:01 oops?

  • @marshalljimduncan I do oops from time to time but that is how you advance THAT STYLE of defrost timer into a defrost cycle. one terminal says "test" and you short it to the next terminal with a screwdriver. Perhaps a button would be better but that how Whirlpool decided to do it. Thanks for the comment!

  • Awesome video!!! Thank you so much for sharing this. I have a Frigidaire model GLRT183TDBL. My refrigerator isn't completely warm, but isn't as cold as it should be. The freezer feels just fine. I unplugged it for about an hour and a half (enough time?) but that didn't seem to make a change. I didn't see a place to advance the mechanicle timer. Are there panels I need to remove to get to it or should I consider going to the next solution?

  • @liber8xion1 Thank you! 1.5 hours may not have been enough time depending on how frozen the air ducts are, even with the doors wide open... You can advance the defrost timer into a defrost cycle if the other defrost components are working. It is located inside the control housing in the refrigerator section. I can't tell if there is a access hole for advancing knob or not... The other possibility is the evaporator fan... Do you hear the fan in the freezer working?

  • hay appliance assistant thanks for yor message please remind me when u have made them available thanks!

i am having a puddle of water developing now and then at the bottom of the frost free refrigerator on the kitchen floor would switching it off over night cure it? please advise kindest regards

  • @meetmetoday The most common cause of a periodic frost free leak is ether a cracked drip pan under the refrigerator, or more often a clogged defrost drain. I just wrote a post about that problem "Top 11 Most Common Appliance Repair Problems." it is #11 "Oh Sheet!" Take a look at that and see if it helps out. The new video will be up sometime early next week. :)

  • Thanks for doing this video, really helped me figure out how to diagnose and repair my old side by side fridge. My local appliance parts store was able to match me up with equivalent or universal parts that I needed, even though they were discontinued and not available.

  • @applianceassistant I've been to too many of these service calls to know thats a mouse trapped in condenser fan motor. No reflection on your household cleaniness. The little buggers love that area for its warmth.....if running a refrigeration compressor wasnt so costly energy-wise, it would be the perfect mouse trap.

  • Thank you so much for this video. I had exactly the same problem with my refrigerator. I unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours, then plug it back in. It worked perfectly again.

  • @applianceassistant Yes, the fan in the freezer seems to be working fine. I can hear it and I see it blowing on things in there. I see the control housing, I think I may have to pull a few screws to get to the timer. I'll try to let it defrost a little longer first (3 hours?) before attempting invasive surgery lol. Thanks again for the vid and the response! If I do have to order parts or something, I'll definitely be getting them from your site.

  • thank you so much LOL! i tried the flat head screw driver in the back of the fridge et voila! FIXED! YOU are AMAZING. I honestly can't thank you enough. I'm laughing at how simple that was and who knows what it would have cost to call in a repair man to fix it!!
