MARIMBA MAMA

Czech-American musical group with a unique line-up of instruments. Three marimbas (traditional African wooden 'xylophones') accompanied by drums and percussion (conga, djembe, cajon and shekere) and melodic instruments (clarinet,saxophone,trumpet & fujara)
The range of Marimba Mama's music is wide -- from slow blues and hypnotizing compositions to energy laden dance songs. The repertoire is inspired by South & West African music, influenced by Latin-American rhythms with a hint of Cuban beats and combined with contemporary musical techniques.

The individual skills of our players are pushing the band towards original compositions in which traditional ethnic melodies unite with precise rhythms and sensitive improvisation.
