A global currency is the most obvious and transparent solution towards economic equilibrium. Any denial of this is pure fear and I can understand people being scared. Replacing the dollar with an artificial currency would solve some of the problems related to the potential of countries running large deficits and would help stability.

Bullshit. The UN and IMF may be elitist, but they are not retards. They know that a global currency would completely fuck the global economy sideways in a way that would make the Depression look mild. It would entail the creation of a single central bank that would have to use the exact same monetary and fiscal policy for every single country. After looking at what happened to the EU, it is just a no go.
