Groundstone (formerly Inspiration) takes you back to a time when there was sweet soul music coming from the radio and from vinyl LPs people played till they were worn out or turned into expensive collectors' items. Their repertory is large and diverse, including hits from the 50's (the Doo Wop era) by the likes of Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, Shep and the Limelites, The Five Satins,The Tokens, The Penguins, The Tymes,Gene Chandler, and from 60's( the Soul Era) The Drifters, the Tempations, Four Tops, the Tokens, Ben E. King, Jackie Wilson, the Contours, and lots of Sam Cooke covered to perfection. Here they perform Wonderful World.
Video cameras, can't resist them as they find them singing in the streets of New York. Groundstone was an original part of the World Peace Through Music--Playing for Change experiment by videographers Jonathan Walls and Mark Johnson.
Performance followed by interview with band members Rome, Dondi, Dez, Darrel, and Robert Anderson on Prince Street in New York's mecca for international visitors and tourists, Soho. You can see more of this wonderful band and on their YouTube channel Groundstone1 and on MySpace. To get in contact with the group send an e-mail to groundstone@gmail.com Search for Select Blends to find more great acappella music by some of this group and other singers.

  • Street music the way it was originally done back in the 1950's. Great to see and hear. When songs required great voices and the lyrics didn't have to be full of the F word. Refreshing !

  • @HoboGus

don't be an idiot this is great street music

you should rather criticize stars who make millions with their music, instead of this great artists who sing on the street and let us listen to their music for free

and beside of that the bass is also very good

  • I wish I could sing with them

  • Get RID OF THE DAMN BASS and get someone who can SING BASS!!!
